    Swelling waterproof blanket is a kind of geosynthetic material specially used for anti-leakage of artificial lake waterscape, landfill, underground garage, roof garden, pool, oil depot and chemical storage yard. It is made of sodium-based bentonite filled between special composite geotextile and non-woven fabric. Bentonite impermeable mat made by needle punching method can form many small fiber spaces, but bentonite particles cannot flow in one direction, when it meets water, a uniform and high-density colloidal waterproof layer is formed in the pad to effectively prevent water leakage.
    1. Compactness
    Sodium bentonite forms a high-density diaphragm under water pressure. When the thickness is about 3mm, its water permeability is less than & × 10 ˉ 11m/sec, which is equivalent to 100 times the compactness of clay with a thickness of 30cm, and has strong self-retaining water performance.

    Construction Requirements

    The waterproof mechanism is as follows: the sodium-based particle bentonite selected for the bentonite waterproof blanket can swell more than 24 times when exposed to water, so that it forms a uniform colloidal system with high viscosity and low filtration loss. Under the restriction of two layers of geotextiles, the bentonite changes from disorder to orderly expansion. The continuous water absorption and expansion result is that the bentonite layer itself is dense, thus having waterproof effect.
